18.6.09 Long day at the Schools

We had an awesome day today and I'm extremely tired with an exhausting day tomorrow as well so this is going to be short. We spent all day at a school 2.5 hours away. I've dropped pictures of around 13 kids below playing with the kids at the school. Your kids are incredible. They continue to amaze us leaders as we push their limits so they can achieve more for Him. The individual stories the kids have from today is mind blowing. We read posts again and will do so again tomorrow. They love the contact so keep the encouragement coming. I'm going to bed...more tomorrow...bw

  1. To the Entire Team...
You guys are tremendous! Can you sense the prayers of SO many back home? Are you seeing the obvious hand of God moving right before you? I am amazed at how many people are praying for you. God lays you on my heart many times a day too.

Jon...We really miss you. Don't forget things...I want to hear about EVERYTHING!
Tonite we got Old Chicago and Jord came over along with Austin, Collin & Brandon. The stories they tell! Collin wanted to show me his car...Olds Alera(?). Looks nice.

It got really hot today...in the 90's! I think the Goode's got hit with baseball sized hail! We missed the storm..thankfully.

    Love & miss you...

So nice to see those sideburns coming back! Love seeing your picture - but it makes me miss you more. (Only a mom would think that - right?!) Love you, bud.

    Team -
You go, all! Keep serving the Lord enthusiastically!

  4. To Sean H...

Hey Sean, this is Grant here. Things are well here. I blew all my b-day money yesterday and got...Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, and Pokemon Silver, the retro one. But basically all you need to know is that the house is still standing and that I love you.

Hey Sean, you look so cute with the children. Hope Brazil is a blast and can't wait for you to get back. Oh, and I changed my mind about my gift. Skip the jewelry, I want a capybara. Ciao, Lauren

How long have you been gone now? It seems like FOREVER! We miss your smile. We miss your jokes. We miss you driving us around (ok, maybe we don't miss that so much.) Just kidding. Keep telling everyone about Jesus. They need to hear it.

  5. Hi Jake! Sure looks like you all had an absolutely fantastic day yesterday. Can't wait to hear all about it. Don't forget anything!

Had thunderstorms and tornadoes roll across NE last night...our favorite kind of weather, huh? It seemed that most of the TV stations covered it most of the night...barely allowing the regular programming. Not sure yet how the rest of NE faired, but the house is still standing and the sun is shining brightly. We're looking at a high of 91 today. Wishing I could give you a little of our warmth. Stay warm.

Gracie is having to wear her cute little cone around her neck again. Hot spots on her face. She still tries to scratch and it sounds so funny banging against the plastic. She is so smart, though. She has figured out a way to get her little paws inside the cone for a quick scratch every now and again. Almost healed up.

Praying 1 Cor. 13 for you all today! Keep the LOVE flowin' and ENJOY this awesome time that the Lord has provided for you...Make the MOST of every opportunity!

    Love you kiddo,

    Mom

  6. Sam,

Just got the message about your leg. While it is true that blue is an excellent color on you (doesn't everyone agree that blue brings out his eyes?) please take it easy and give it a chance to do some healing. I'm praying hard for you today - for endurance and strength to keep going, but also that you will know when to rest. I'm so proud of the work that you and the whole team are doing down there.

I know the pictures Brock posted only tell a small part of the story, but they tell us a lot! I think my favorite pic from today is the one of Jake praying with the kids... How amazingly powerful is that!!!! Isn't it amazing that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is also there working in the team to help you do His work!(Eph 1:19-20).

I love you Sam, and miss you a ton. But I'm so thankful that God is letting me share you with those kids who need to hear His message of love!

  7. Jake,
Sounds like you guys are going 24/7, flat out fired up. Keep hanging in there, we are so excited how well things are going.
One quick note from home. The Nebraska basketball schedule came out in the paper today and they are playing Hastings College on November 10th. You get another game in Devaney!!
    Missing you.

  9. Hayden and team,
The pictures from yesterday are so encouraging to us, back home! I prayed today for God to infuse you with strength as you head out again to minister to another group of students. I'm praying you will all stay excited about what you are sharing even as you share it for the third, fifth, thirteenth... however many times, and that your hearts could stay fully invested in the mission God has put you on until the very end. Oh, and for unity and fun to stay always in your midst. I'm praying for the Brazilian students, too, that they would have open hearts and that the truth of Jesus' sacrifice would bridge any language barriers.
Enjoy any sweatshirt weather you may encounter because if the temps here hold into next week, you're in for a big shock!
We all miss you, a lot, but I think Cleo may be having the hardest time adjusting to the empty bedrooms at the end of the hall!
    Love you tons!

  11. Hey,
We didn't get the baseball size hail, it wasn't too far away from us and headed this way, but peedered out before it got here. Had the cars in the garage though! It felt like the day of the big tornado yesterday, really muggy and overcast part of the day. It's an eerie feeling.
David has been riding the bicycle into Firth to work out, we picked him up at 10 last night because there was lightning. We pick up Maggie from the middle school trip tomorrow night. I'm sure they will have stories, the forcast showed thunderstorms and rain part of the time while they were on the river. Bet your sister and sister-in-law had fun Jake and Brandon! I was leaning on them this week to be Maggie's mom!

I saw you're wearing sweat pants and jacket Andrew, it must be chilly for you not to wear shorts. Praying for warmth for you all of you, especially the gals, I HATE to be cold, and when I get cold I just can't get warm. Praying that the busses are warm and that your host homes are filled with warmth and rest.

Bambi - took some meat and potato's to your fam last night. Kayla had a blast at camp and Dan seemed to be doing well. I also took 8 or 9 movies-they'll be busy till you get home!
Ricky - Kristy and I exchanged phone messages yesterday. You probably know, she stayed in Schyler this week. She didn't want to be alone, which I don't blame her. She sounded like she was doing great though. I'm sure she's enjoying her family. I'm glad you've gotten to talk to her a few times - that's hard, but important!

Praying today that the team will continue to run with perseverance the race that is marked out for you all. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the ultimate goal, and run with all you have. You are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. You're approaching the finish line, of this leg of the race anyway!

  12. Sean,

I know you must be tired but I know God is smiling down on you and the rest of your team for the great work you are preforming each day. Stay focused as you near the finish line. We all miss you and are looking forward to your safe return.

  14. Alek, Man do i miss you, I know i keep saying that but it is so true! I know you and the team have to be exhausted but you keep going. I know God is giving you the energy, just keep thinking another day another life that God could change forever.
Dad gets home tomorrow night from the Wisconsin canoe trip I have not heard anything from him yet so things must be going good. I know you have been on that trip and know how much fun I am sure they are having.
Your on the home stretch now only a few days left. Please be writing things down as you think of them so when you get back you will be able to share with us I know there has to be so many stories... I will continue to pray daily ..okay hourly... okay pretty much every waking minute for your safety and health and the kids you come in contact with.. that they will see your love for Jesus when they look at you, continue to try to look at everyone thru God's eyes as he would see them... I love you to the moon and back!!!

  15. Hi there Eric,

Mom called to say our home computer has a virus and she is taking somewhere to have it cleaned up. So I better send you a quick note from here at work. Just a few days and you will be home, hang in there.

Save your best for last, the 4th quarter, the last lap, the home stretch. Don't give up. Turn it on for the Lord. Ricky said that hardly anyone wears shorts down there because it is so cool at night. Does that include you? I doubt it.

I am headed to Digitech Systems after work, as a part of my chaplain responsibilities. You room seems so quiet without you there.
Do they have Shockers candy there? Do they really put extra stuff in their hamburgers?

Take care and more when our home computer is back.

    Much love,

    LeRoy (DAD)

  16. Hey Cameron,

It's hot again today and it feels like summer has set in (for now). The twins have been asking about your trip. It's good that you can be a super witness for them and maybe spark a hunger for them to take a trip in the future. Casey Jo had her nails painted last night. It's sad what that dog has to put up with. I don't know if time is flying or dragging for you but it seems like you guys only left yesterday. You'll be home before you know it but the results of your efforts will last forever. What an amazing thing God does for us. Giving us a chance to effect the future and change history. Our world is certianly bigger than us (bigger than this world!) Hang in there group. You'll be home before you know it. The opportunities presented today will only appear once. The home team is proud of you and pray for you often.
We miss you Bud and as always, could not be more proud,

    Dad

  17. Hi Madi! It's Dad. It was great to *see* you today. You look tired, but I know that is to be expected considering the days you are having. I'm so proud of the way you and the entire team have given yourselves over to what God is doing in Brazil. Keep pushing toward completion of the mission. We are eager to reunite with you and to hear your account of everything. Be safe. Be strong.

    I love you!

  18. Cameron...

Are you hiding from the photographers? We are beginning to wonder if you are really there or not...Thought you might be interested in a funny story. There was a dog in our back yard today and Casey saw it. She started barking and acting like she was going to lay into it and the dog outside got spooked and took off. Casey momentarily forgot that she was looking through the glass sliding door and took off at full speed to chase it. Yeah, she's probably had a headache all day long. It was REALLY funny.

Hope you are enjoying your journey and that God is growing you along with those you are ministering to. He has a tendency of doing that.

We look forward to seeing you next week. I'll make sure there's food you like in the fridge when you get home.

    Love, Mom (Nat)
