Day 10

Well, we have pretty much come to the back end of our ministry in Rio do Sul and I can affirm what you have heard already. Families, you have good reason to be proud of your students on this trip. The combination of strong team unity, openness, courage and just plain joy displayed by the members of this team have left a big impression on the Brazilians we have met and we have met many. The different languages have presented the usual challenge but have been no barrier. I may be forever be known to the Brazilians as "Scotch" but I've learned I can answer to that just as well as the name they can't seem to pronounce.

In spite of the cultural and language differences, time and again I watched our students take the initiative to approach Brazilians, strike up a conversation and, before it was done, share their faith as naturally as they were moments ago talking about American football or Brazilian soccer.

If there was any one word I would use to sum up the image this team has carried with it, it is "joy". These American students have effectively demonstrated that the life they have found in Christ is one of joy. When we get home in just a few days now, the pictures we will bring (and there are literally thousands of them between us) will clearly show this.

Tonight we pack back on the bus for Florianopolis. Then tomorrow a day of sightseeing and then, the following day back to Sao Paula and finally home. See you all soon!

  4. Thankful to hear that Joy is evident in the group. Praying for that Joy, attitude of unity in your group and your desire to share Christ to continue until you are back in Lincoln and then as a lifestyle for each of you. What a Saviour we serve. Oh, and would someone in the group give Luke a hug from his Grandma? Thanks. I will keep praying. Ruth Teebken

  5. We continue to pray for each Brazilian who heard God's Word and experienced the love of Christ that you shared with them. God's Word shall not return empty! (Isaiah 55:11) As you return to everything you are familiar with, we pray that each of you will continue to serve Him in ways you never did before. We Glorify God! along side of you for the answers to prayer, the small / large miracles, the struggles and the joys you experienced on this trip. We anxiously wait to see you and hear more of what God has shown you through this journey. Praising God for His servants to Brazil! And praying for safety on your trip home,
