15.6.09

Just about to leave for a school in a very poor area where we will spend our day today. I have no time to post any pictures right now but hopefully tonight. Those of us who went to the other towns and churches last night had an awesome time. So many stories to tell and each of us has our own experiences. It's awesome. Jake and Lauren shared their testimonies last night in small towns around the area (within 2 hours of Rio do Sul). They both did great. The kids were incredibly encouraged and excited when we saw how many posts we received. They all wanted to know if their parents posted anything. Thank you to all who have done so, keep it up.

Jake wanted me to tell his parents that his sugars are doing great down here, he isn't having any problems at all.

Also, the church youth group here has a website http://www.jers.ministerioalcance.com.br/. Their kids will be posting pictures that they have taken of us on there so check that out.

Everyone is feeling well now too...thank you for those prayers.

Hopefully more with pictures tonight...bw

  1. Hey would someone tell my boyfriend that I miss him? Thanks. I would ask someone to pass on a kiss from me, but fankly, that could get a little weird.
Praying for you guys everyday, I hope God has given you an abundance of blessing as you labor to glorify him.

Hayden and Ryan...I'm hearing all about you wonderful grandsons via the Holdrege "grapevine" from Jon's Grandma and Aunt! Amazingly small world isn't it?! =-)

    Jon...miss your hugs!

  4. Okay, first of all, that web site from the church youth is totally NOT in English. I hope when the photos are posted it will be obvious where to find them.
Thanks so much for the continued blog entries. We feel like we know so much about what is going on; we can pray well for you, and we'll know how to question you about the trip when you return.
Tell Hayden that they threw us a curve on the new band director at LSW. They hired Terry Rush away from Lincoln High.
The middle schoolers are safely away on their canoe trip, so we're enjoying spending time with Chase.
    Keep up the God work!

  7. Hey Eric,

It's a "little" quiet around here - we miss you!

You've become a bit infamous around here. I'm now known as the mother of the one eating chicken feet!

Praying for you and the entire team that God will continue to give you strength and energy as you serve Him in Brazil.

  12. Hi Eric,

How is it going? Hope you are feeling okay. Do they have Orange Sunkist pop down there, how about Skippy creamy peanut butter, or 2% milk?
Every time I drive by Kentucky Fried Chicken I think of you and pray for you and the group. Carlos's mom told Kevin that they eat chicken feet in Peru as well.
I miss working out with you. I don't push myself so hard when I am by myself. I raced myself last night and won by a step. I am thinking that you probably miss my jokes the most, although you claim that they are not funny nor do they have a punchline. Is there anyone in your group that can jokes like me?

Tell Cameron thanks for getting his hair cut, because it inspired you. I think you look sharp and a LITTLE older.

Lord-willing you start your new job on Tuesday, June 24th at 4:30 pm. They are anxious to have you start. I have lots of questions about the church in Brazil. Take Care.

    Love,

    Dad

  13. Thanks so much for the pictures. They really help to make us feel that we are there with you all. God is so amazing and His work in your lives is evident. Stay bold and courageous as you minister to the people around you. All of you are incredible for your willingness to give yourselves to God to be used in this way.

    Darryl & Brandon,
Soooo bummed to miss the skype. We were somewhere between KC and Lincoln. We are home safely now. The puppies really missed me and I know they'll absolutely go crazy when you guys walk in the door. I'm so glad to hear that you are not sick any longer, Darryl. Did Brandon get it, or does he have an iron stomach? I hope you got pictures of the cliff jump. It's going to be a long week now until you get back with no "trip" to go on, but I know you are having a blast and are being mightily used by God. I'm praying that you will continue to get good rest and maintain your strength. I know it gets exhausting after several days and now, during the second week push, you will need God's help to keep strong. I'm also praying for the unity of the group, that as you live together for so many days, there is harmony.
    Love you both so much.

  14. Hey Ty,

I didn't know I could address you personally but now that I do...watch out...
Your grand parents have been calling asking about you and your progress. We are all proup of you... How's the singing and the guitar playing? I guess you can't be all that bad... they are letting you stay longer.

I play that God will use your talents for his will on your stay there and beyond...

  15. Hayden,

Curious how you are doing. Haven't seen any comments from you or what you are up to. How is the trip? We are praying for you and the group. We went to Des Moines yesterday with Chase to "Adventure Land" (similar to Worlds of Fun). Whitney is in Wisconsin on her youth trip. I had jury duty today which was terribly boring. Grandma and Grandpa are here tonight and we are all wondering how your trip is going and what you specifically have been up to.

Have the kids there worked their way into your heart yet? I bet so. We continue to pray and look forward to seeing you soon.

    Love,
    Dad

  17. Cam,

We miss you Bud. Not used to not hearing from you or not knowing exactly what you're doing. I know things are well with you. Can't wait to hear your stories. Things are quiet around here. Casey Jo gets her nails clipped tomorrow. That's always an adventure. How pathetic that that makes our news. I said it was quiet. We love you Bud!

  18. Hey Nick! Miss you a lot and miss my neck and back massages! Pray that you are well and full of it! (Energy that is!) Hope you are getting good rest at night. Jinx is lost without you. K is outrageous! Jesse just got home today. I did it! I joined the gym! Help! Haven't got left anywhere yet, right? Keep up the good work there. I know that God is doing amazing things through you and everyone else, and that He is doing amazing things in your own heart, too! Love you and can't wait for you to come home!....mom

  19. Lauren,

Nice job sharing your testimony today! I'm proud of you! I pray God will bless your efforts while you are in Brazil. I hope you are getting a good night's sleep each night, and you do well keeping up the energy for another week. And, it sounds like the food is OK. I'm getting ready to leave for Mexico in three days - you know the trip well. If you want me to give a message to one of your little girls from last year - send it to me via this site and I'll run it off and give it to her. I can also make up a couple bags of candy if you want me to give them candy, as well. Chelsea got a new (used) red jeep. It's a 2001, and in very nice condition. That's all for tonight. I love you. XOXO Mom and Dad

  20. Hi Jake and everyone! It sounds like the memory bank is filling up like crazy. I echo Becky Lien's request: We ALL get together after this is over and listen to all the awesomeness you have experienced! Jake, thanks for the update on the sugars...that is exactly what I have been praying for you. God is good! Keep up the good work, the LONG days of work and keep MAKING MEMORIES! Like mom always says...Anytime you can make a memory...DO IT! Love you all! Phil 4:13
