Waterfalls and Mountain Tops June 14 (Sunday)

Today we hiked to some beautiful places (well, we took a bus a lot of the way). We went to Indian falls. It is called Indian Falls because it was a burial ground for the Guaranese (sp?) Indians many, many years ago. Sean McClure, Brandon, Matt, Jason (JBarr), and John all jumped into the fridged waters. So far, no pnuemonia! After the falls we drove to the the highest mountain top. We had an amazing view of Rio de Sul. After the mountain top we went to a local sports club, like a YMCA, and had a bbq with the church people. We had beans and rice, potatoe salad, lettuce salad, corn (served cold straight from the can), green beans (also cold, but in a vinagarette), sweet pickle, sausage, bread and steak. Jake Marvin had a steak that took up his entire plate. The food is pretty good. After the bbq we all went with our host families to rest or tour a bit more of Brazil. Tonight our team will be at 3 different churches. Two groups are traveling, so pray for them. Brock, Darryl and Ricky (Hicky, as he is known here) are preaching tonight. We are also doing their children's ministry tonight at church. Can't believe how quickly the days fly by!

  1. Hi there,

Thanks for these updates, they are very meaningful, helpful, and encouraging to us back here in the States. Church attendance a little down today, it seemed, must have been a lot of people on vacation (or missions trips). Scott Kerr preached a great sermon on the importance of reading the Bible. You guys should get the CD or DVD when you get back, it will be worth it. We are praying for your health, spiritual impact, team unity.........and much more. Keep making us proud while you serve the King of Kings!

  4. Dear Group (and Lauren),

I love reading the updates every day! And, by the way, what is wrong with chicken feet soup? Some of us grew up on the farm eating chicken livers, and chicken hearts and chicken gizzards. . . .and grew up just fine. . . .:-) It's nice you can enjoy new culture.

Lauren, we celebrated Dad's Father's Day early (today), as I'll be in Mexico next Sunday. Lauren, we love you, miss you, and are praying every day for you and the team.

May God bless each of you beyond anything you could ever imagine. Happy FIRST Father's Day, Ricky.

    Love,
    Patty (and Mom)

We've yet to get some really good hot weather here...was it warm enough there for the jump into the waterfalls?

Jon...Korsmo's just left and we had the amazing BBQ ribs on the grill again...Henry is looking around more George has been officially banned from the house (you can imagine why!!)

Bambi...give Jon a hug for us! We're so glad all you leaders are giving of yourselves for our kids. You're an awesome example and we appreciate you.

RICKY...STEVE...any chance of getting a phone call on Tuesday nite around 7:15 or 7:30 during the parents prayer mtg. at our house? Phone # 402-782-8941. We could put you on speaker phone. Let us know.

  6. Hey ya'll!
Praising the Lord for how well your trip is going!!! HE is so good!

Thanks for the updates. Although, I'm tired just hearing your schedule.

We continue to pray for every detail and praise God for how He is using each and every one of you. Keep looking to Him for direction and leaning on Him for strength.

***On a more personal note... Abigail, we are having a blast without you (tee hee), but our home just isn't the same with you gone! For one thing, I am totally out numbered around here. (you know what I mean, Grace/Dad) Praying you are having a great time! Love ya, mom***

Back to the team, Can't wait to hear more about your adventures and to see the dvd.

Serving our Great God in the U.S., while you are serving Him in Brazil,
    love ya,

  7. Thanks for posting comments so frequently! It has been great to hear how God is using each one of you! He has uniquely enabled each of you to do some very specific things for HIS kingdom while you are there! The ripple effects will be BIG! :)

P-ram...can't wait to hear all the amazing stories you'll tell! Deb and the kids took Tyler back to the farm w/ them on Friday after we picked like 80 pounds of strawberries at Roca Berry Farm! We are saving some for strawberry shortcake when you get home! Kim is in Wisconsin...so it's just us and Brady...will he get a cell phone? The suspense is just killing him! HA HA

We miss you and are praying for you thru-out every day! God will continually work mightily IN you and THRU you! Press on dear brother!

    Love you!

  8. Ryan P-
Just wanted you to know that we continue to pray for you as well as your team. The prayers of your little cousins almost bring me to tears nightly. They are just too sweet and love you so much. They know you are there for Jesus and and are very anxious for you to come back and share your stories.

As your mom mentioned above, the ripple effects will be huge. We serve a Mighty God!

  9. I am so proud of all of you for the awesome work you are doing in Brazil. God is being greatly glorified. Sean H...I cried (happy tears) when I read about your sharing the evange-cube at the orphanage and then the children's response. Wow! And, way to go Madison on boldly sharing your testimony. I'll bet the kids just loved having you (Sean, Madison & Abby) with them.

To each of you as you share your testimony...I encourage you to boldly proclaim what God has done in your life. Each of your stories are unique and special. Keep up the good work. God is with you every step of the way!

  10. Okay, those of you who know me...I mean really know me...will understand when I say that I sit at my computer with tears flowing down my cheeks as I read both your posts and the comments.

Yes, we do serve an amazing, might God. And the beauty that He is showing you there on the mountain top must be overwhelming. Hope you got pictures.

I love that the guys jumped...what's the matter girls?

I know you must be tired, but I am praying that the Lord gives you stamina, strength, courage, safety and endurance to finish this race.

Madison, I keep turning around to talk to you. I miss you baby. And there's no one here to keep me in line.

I'm off to hit my knees to the floor for you all. May his mighty, precious blessings be poured out on all of you.

  11. Good Morning,
Thanks for the updates, it's great to see you are having an impact on so many. Thank you too for sacrificing you time & talents to serve others.

I prayed for you today that God would continue to protect you and allow you to connect to those that are unconnected to Christ.

    Blessings,

  12. Jake,
Thank you for the updates, it is amazing to be so far apart and yet seem so close. Good to see you are not "Starvin Marvin" when it comes to eating steak. We are praying for you and the group daily. I can't wait to get you back and hear all the stories. Keep on a serving.
NBDA team camp this weekend- LSW 4-1 lost to CP by 20 - not the same without you big guy.
CWS went and saw UT win in bottom of ninth with a walk off walk.
Hopefully the sugars are doing OK.
    Missing you.
    Love Dad

  13. Everyone,

I'm praying for an extra measure of strength for the weeks activities and refreshing rest time when you are finally able to sleep each night this week. Also praying for a smooth transition into this weeks schedule.

Sam, (Ask around, someone will know who Sam is)
Missing you a ton. Glad to hear things are going so well! I hope that there are good before and after pics of the waterfall jump!! I can't wait to see them as well as those that are being captured with your camera. The girls have been at their dads all weekend and now looks like I'm still alone till Tuesday. When they come back its possible we will be a 2 vehicle and (possibly) a 2 driver family!.. if not this week, the extra vehicle should arrive before you get home.

Looking forward to hearing more from the team!

    Love you lots!
    mom (Rhoni)

  14. What a difference these updates make! We feel like we are on the trip with you all! Thanks so much Brock for taking the time to do it even when you are totally exhausted. Makes it a whole different experience for us at home and it allows us to pray so much more specifically.

Andrew, what happened, you must not be feeling well, no flip into the frigid water?? We figured you'd be the first one. Maybe you're getting more sensible with age! :) The house is so quiet without you and Maggie, although I'm still cooking up a storm for David, Jordan and Dad. We miss you AT.

Praying through Galatians for the team this morning. May each of you be living by and led by the Spirit(5:16,18), displaying the fruit of the Spirit(5:22), carrying each other's burdens (6:2), not becoming weary of doing good, and not giving up(6:9). God promises that you WILL reap a harvest, in His time. That is so exciting, your work, even to the littlest detail, is not in vain!! You may not see all of the results right now, but God will see the seed to completion!

  15. Hello Team Brazil!!! Happy Monday to you all! Send some of your sunshine our way! Still cloudy and rainy here. Sounds like you are all having a wonderful time. Praying that the illnesses that were prevalent the last couple of days are gone and forgotten about. Glad to hear you are eating well, Jake. Many new experiences...chicken-heart pizza, chicken feet and so much more! Everyone is giving me really interesting faces when I show them the chicken feet picture. Praying that you are ALL having THE MOST INCREDIBLE SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE OF YOUR LIVES!!!!!

    Love you Jake and all,

    Rochelle
