16.6.09 Part II

Florom's: Hayden is here, here is a picture to prove it. I'm really not sure why I don't have any of him up yet or no stories. He's doing great, has helped lead worship many times and is doing well.

Some of you have asked about the Spellman's. They are doing great. Becca is a very talented translator and we have relied on her expertise so many times. Kayla is working on her translating also as we're throwing her in front from time to time, she is doing well. Steve is very busy with administrative tasks for us which has been great and Liz is always ready to take care of us whenever something comes up, or making sure there is food here for us, etc. She is kind of the mom of the trip and is excellent at it.

  5. Alek, It was so good to see a picture of you posted! that you are alive and well, We miss you so much here so much that Dakota is looking for you now. I hope your taking lots of pictures and please try to be in some of them I know scenery is good but you in a couple of them would be nice also and of the kids. It is so cool to read how God is at work in the lives of the kids you are working with and how I know he is working in all of your lives too. Would love to hear how you are doing... I miss you so much no strange boy noises around the house Mason just does not make them like you do.. Morgan was asking about you and how you were doing... hugs and kisses... :) Stay strong and finish the race

  7. It is so great to see pictures and hear how God is working! We love your posts! We pray for you every day and especially as this week continues on...we pray for "energizer bunny-like" strength! :)

Ryan, Brady got his learner's permit last week and no...he has not driven your car...yet! :0 He is especially fond of the cell phone though...(make him pay! HA HA)

We are so proud of all of you...continue to use your gifts to build up the Brazillian body of Christ and give HIM ALL the PRAISE!

  8. Hey All....thinking of you as you have your long bus ride to the school in the morning. Praying for an awesome driver to keep you all safe!

Not surprised that Liz is taking on the role of an awesome MOM for all of us back here! THANKS Liz! Special thanks to all the Spellmans...you guys are awesome!

We had 20 parents here tonite and we ALL so appreciated you Ricky! Thanks for taking the time to call and answer our questions. We went into prayer after we hung up and it was a great time. Praying for you Ricky...know it's hard to be away from Kristi. Also Bambi, Darryl and oh...you too Jason!! =-)

WOW...125 kids...keep praying for them...the enemy doesn't like it one bit!

REMEMBER...one of the last things Christ prayed for the Believers on earth, was that they would love one another and be united. There are going to be times in the next week when the enemy is going to try to sow seeds of disharmony amongst the team....DON"T LET HIM!!! Pray for each other and ask God to give you sincere love for each other...and patience! By now some of you may be "bugged" by others...that's normal...pray about it...deal with it...don't let it fester!

THANKS Brock again for some great updates.

Jon...we miss you...anxious to hear about your host family. Who else on the team are you housing with? Can't wait to hear your stories...and like Becky Lien said...be sure to get pictures of you WITH some of the kids in the schools. Those pics will be awesome to add to your "thank you" letters to your supporters when you get back. (that's actually a great reminder for all of you!)

As I close...I'm smiling...thinking of seeing you all in action at the schools....and if I'm smiling...well just think what kind of grin God has watching you!

    Lv you all,
    Connie =-)

  9. Jared,
We had a great prayer time at the Isaacsons' home and it was so good hearing from Ricky. Sounds like you all are having a great time and a powerful impact. I know you are impacted as well!

I miss you and can't wait to hear your stories first hand.

    I love you,
    Mom

  10. AWH, Andrew, stealing for your mommy, how sweet.......next will be a tattoo of my picture on your arm....ha!
    Love and miss you too!

Heard a couple things about you last night from Ricky at the Isaacson's---we're still laughing, well, sort of....praying for you too.:)
I see you befriended the music guy from the church, did you invite him on the rest of the mission trip with the team?! Is he coming home with you? You and your brother both have the gift of relating to those different from you. We love that about you, and know that God uses you in a mighty way because of how he's gifted you!

To the team, this point in the trip may require more self control, focus, and obedience from you guys as you get a little more tired, maybe a little cranky. Push past your feelings and natural reactions, and lean on the Spirit for rest, consideration, and love for each other. That can only come from your time with the Father. Galatians and Ephesians are chock full of Truth for your day. Remind each other of the goal and purpose, and encourage the heck out of each other.
    Deut. 10:12 (AMP)
what does the Lord your God require of you, but (reverently) to fear the Lord your God: that is, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your mind and heart and with your entire being....

  13. Nick, I haven't seen you in a pic yet either! I hope you are taking a lot of pics and I hope you are in a lot of them, too! Anxious to see a picture of you. Did you eat any chicken feet, and have you eaten anything else strange? Curious if the beaks were in there, too! Has it warmed up any? Hope that you are being a great big "LOSER"!:) Love you so much and am so proud of you. Be prepared to share EVERYTHING when you get home! (Details...details!)...mom

  14. Howdy, Nick! I'm at your house reading all of the comments and looking at the pictures. That must be some beautiful scenery at least, compared to Nebraska. Got a kick out of the chicken soup. We ate a lot of chickens on the farm when I grew up . . . about the eating the feet, dad probably ate some, but my brother and I always fought about who gets to eat the heart and the gizzard. Dad and mom fought over the liver. Those were the days!

I've been praying every day for you and for the whole team and I know that the Lord is richly blessing your lives as you minister in the name of Jesus. May God bless all of you is my prayer and give you health and strength to carry on. You'll not know until you reach glory how your lives touched those to whom you are ministering to daily. I miss you, especially your Sunday hugs at church. Read Numbers 6:24-26 . . . this is my prayer for you and the whole team. Love, Grandma

  15. Oh where, oh where, did my Madi go?
Oh where, oh where can she be?
Could she be outside, on the streets to see,
If anyone wants to know Christ and be free?

I am going nuts without you Mad-woman. It just isn't the same. Even Emerie is missing you. Can you believe it?

Gato is crazy sad that you are not here. She cries all the time.

Less than a week left. I pray that God gives you the endurance to finish strong! And I know he will. I can't wait to hear how God is changing lives - yours and the people you meet. And what about your host family? Make sure you get them contact info!

It is pool weather here - finally. We'll have to go when you get home.

Grandma D leaves for Ohio tomorrow. And Dee K. asked Em to water plants while she is on vaca.

I can't wait to hear from the entire team. Tell them all "way to go."

    I love you,

    Robin

  16. Cameron,

I keep looking for your picture but haven't seen you yet. I know things are fine but still... Have you met any kids that you want to bring home yet? Don't! I'm sure it's not legal. I can't imagine the tugging of the heart strings that comes from touching the lives of those who have such great needs. Today the entire group is storing up eternal gifts that cannot be destroyed. There's is no greater thing that you could be doing today than the work of the Lord. We are proud of you all. Stay strong and focused.
We miss you at home Bud. We are preparing for our trip to CO but you are always on our minds. Couldn't be more proud

  19. Brazil Team,
I am praying that you are having an incredible experience and that each day you are learning more and more about the Lord. When we go to minister like this, almost all the time we are ministered TO by the people and our experiences with them. My prayers are that you are experiencing that on this trip as well.

    Brandon,
Your presence is definitely missed around here. I even heard your brother say last night that he was starting to miss you. Not sure what got into him. LOL There must be something about when you go away that brings out the brotherly love in him.
I'm thinking we must miss you snapping your fingers, the outbursts of laughter while you watch t.v. and I know I miss hearing you and your brother fight over how hot or cold it should be upstairs.
Stay strong during your last few days of ministry and ask the Lord to show you what He wants you to learn during your time down there. Mamasita loves and misses you! You can tell Dad I love him too.

  22. Hi Sean! Wow! I asked for pictures from your trip and just looked what I got.......A whole blog site! Can you picture your Mom doing what you are doing, when she was your age? She did! What an awesome way to spread God's word. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about it all. It's amazing how organized your trip is, and exhausting, and exhilarating at the same time! Hope those Brazilian Runzas have lots of calories for energy! Aunt Mary

  23. Brazil Team, As you continue on your adventure with God and your Brazilian friends, make some time to think deeply and pray about what it is that God is doing in your heart. Listen to the Spirit's voice. You are being transformed, with each experience, each person you meet, each hug, each smile, each memory. Allow God to work in and through you. You were meant to be on this trip at this exact moment in God's infinite time line. And finally, love each other as Christ loved us, serving one another, helping one another, encouraging one another.
    Continually praying for you,
    Scott & Sarah Holmes

PS Ricky, Darrel, Brock, Em, and Bambi - YOU ROCK!!

  24. Hi Eric and the Brazil team,

Kevin and I went to Amigo's tonight. Soft taco's,. meat and cheese only. HOLD the chicken feet!

In case you miss my great jokes, here at a few to tie you over until get back to the Cornhusker state:

I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.

The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference.

To write with a broken pencil is pointless.

The dead batteries were given out free of charge!

Keep smiling and hang in there. We are praying that you and the team will experience the joy of the Lord during the second half of your trip.

    Take care and God Bless.

    Love,

    Dad (LeRoy)

  26. I got to check out the website for the youth group that you are serving! There are some photos of y'all with the students! It looks like you are having a great time/...lots of laughter and smiles! We have prayed that you would get to experience A LOT of JOY as you serve!

Tyler is coming home tomorrow from Debi's. He got to ride on the 4 wheeler w/ Craig. He was pretty excited...I don't think Deb trusts him on the motorcycles yet! (Can't imagine WHY???) I think they've been swimming quite a bit and Tyler said they took a trip to the "hardware store" tonight! :)

They have been reading and keeping up with the blog every day and are praying for you. Gunnar's prayers are pretty sweet. We are all anxious for your return! We love you so much and are so very proud of ALL of you!

  27. I Corinthians 9:22-27
"To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. Do you know know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. they do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize"

Praying for you as you preach to others...
    In Christ,
